If you are, kindly, know this. I will be at this yacht in Stuart, Florida starting on Tuesday, 2/7 with a crew to get her ready to go back in the water. At the same time, however, she remains available for a buyer. If you come on board while I am there, I will provide you a subtantial discount. She is a million dollar yacht for sale for less than $200,000. How much less will depend on how well we get along and your undertstanding of sailing yachts.

If you are interested in suverying this yacht while still out of the water now is a good time to do so. The same is true concerning her rig which has not yet been stepped. In this respect, Florida Rigging has just rebuilt her in mast furling system including a new bearing for the luff rod and new hydraulic hoses from the Lewmar Commander unit in the bow. Her wire has been reviewed by Mack Sails. She has fresh bottom paint and her engine and genset are running off shore provided fresh water fed to her strainers. Remaining work includes exercising all through hulls and replacing main engine and genset impellers. This is a great time to get on board and head out to the Bahamas or points further East. In the alternative, you can head toward Panama and the Pacific. Your call, but this is a great time to get underway. Or, if you simply want to dock her and move on board, and sail later, she is ready for that as well. At a no haggle offer, I will replace her existing house bank with an all new lithum battery pack.

Follow this link to article but know that Spirit is a much, much larger and more luxurious vessel. If you really do want to ditch real estate taxes or rental rates driven in part by those same taxes, a boat is an interesting alternative; Here is the link: https://www.washingtonpost.com/home/2022/12/15/what-its-like-live-on-sailboat/

The time to prepare Spirit, she is still out of the water, for your Caribbean adventure is now. She is at one of the finest boat yards in America and all the skill you need to perfect her before launching is on site. She has fresh bottom paint and can be splashed within the month when the hurricane season should end. With a 6.5 foot draft, she is the perfect boat for the Bahamas and the time get your easting to go out beyond is now. Take yourself, your family, and friends for the cruise of a lifetime.

Spirit is the real deal. She will take you anywhere in the world where you have 7 feet of water under you and nothing blocking your mast 70 feet above you. On board, she offers the comfort of a small waterfront condo, but she is not rooted to the ground. Her galley offers every modern convenience except a dishwasher ( you) and a garbage disposal. Her main salon includes two comfortable settee's and a custom made table with storage for crystal beneath it. At each corner is an NFT loudspeaker with a Polk sub-woofer below. There are two large overhead hatches and there are windows all around. She is serviced by a Wabasto diesel heater ( as is the whole boat) and partially cooled by permanent AC. There is an extra portable service unit. Aft she has a king sized double mattress with cedar lined hanging storage and drawers. Her aft head is electric and her shower is fed by 3 aluminiium water tanks connected together with stainless steel tubing. There is alot more but back to the headline. There is magic in the open ocean. Sunrises and sunsets, the night sky away from land lights, even the occasionaly meteor shower. There is bio-luminescence which will leave a trail of stars in your wake. You might even run into a school of glowing squids who will then rain down your bow wave onto your deck making you feel that you have boarded your own space ship. Then, too, there is the fun of making port and making new friends along the dock who each of come from somewhere else looking for adventure and loving the sea. If any of this appeals to you and you have the experience and skill to manage a seemingly large vessel, then Spirit will favorably compare with anything on the market at this time. "Seeming large" is certainly true in the harbor, but once you are a mile or two off shore, she is the right size for long range cruising which include living on board.

Comparing Spirit of Australia with a new build Oyster 495 which at 52"8" is the same size as Spirit, the 8/22 BOAT magazine article introducing the Oyster states, for example, "The boat has a keel-stepped mast. Trimming on or easing out is no more than a button press. This gives the Oyster a bigger boat feel. If the extra $194,000 for this set-up is no obstacle, it must be put on the wish list for cruising." Spirit has the same engineering and her Reckman hydraulics are double the size of the Oysters. For the current asking price, you would also get the sailboat. If you wanted the complete Oyster without the rig described brace yourself to pay "approximately $1.51 million without optional bow (and stern) thrusters." In closing, " ... it is obvious the Oyster is going to be a comfortable passagemaker that should be able to touch on 175 nautical-mile days in tradewinds and gobble up ocean passages." Having sailed Spirit from Victoria, B.C. to Stuart, Florida, with many, many shorter passages in between, we know this to be true for Spirit. If you are considering blue water cruising or just hanging on the dock in an oceans capable luxury sailing yacht until you do then keep more than $1.3 million in your bank account and visit Spirit first. Step inside and see if she does not match the Oyster in overall feel and comfort. The layouts are nearly identical.

Site has been receiving numerous new members. Some, however, wish to offer services such as financing and brokerage. Please understand that these services offerings are unnecessary. All interersted in either Spirit for purchase or general infomation concerning blue water sailing are more than just welcome. Just place your questions within the forum, and I will do my best to answer them. Regarding Spirit, the high offer to date has been $159,000. I have declined this offer as I seek a fair price for this cherished yacht. I review Yachtworld regularly to see what else is for sale. At an asking price of $174,900 Spirit remains $50,000 less than any currently comparable vessel. She also comes with an honest owner interested in the success of the new owner in using her, and there is a qualified broker in the wings to help manage the final transaction. Welcome to this site! Cheers
